Orthopedic Rehabilitation
Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OPT) focuses on the treatment or rehabilitation of injuries to the musculoskeletal system, which includes muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. Physical Therapy is often helpful in the treatment of orthopedic conditions that can cause pain, decreased strength, decreased range of motion, swelling and resulting in impaired function.
Orthopedic Rehabilitation is essential to restore activity, strength and motion right after injury or surgery. Orthopedic patients will typically have deficiencies and weaknesses which could be eliminated or alleviated via specific targeted workouts. Our specialized therapist will show and teach you the appropriate workouts designed to restore and enhance function and minimize the problems. Our Orthopedic therapists are educated about surgical procedures and are able to adapt and adjust their knowledge to treat each individual patient.

Most common orthopedic surgeries requiring post-operative physical therapy ...
The most common surgeries requiring post-operative physical therapy are related to the knees and shoulders which are frequently performed arthroscopically. Some specific knee surgeries include ACL reconstruction, meniscectomy, meniscus repair or chondroplasty. Surgeries for the shoulder include rotator cuff repair, acromioplasty (shaving of bone spurs), labral/SLAP repair, and biceps tenodesis. In addition, total knee or hip replacements often need post-surgical outpatient physical therapy.
